1. Peter Quackenbush [image] was born on 20 Sep 1764. He was christened on 14 Oct 1764 in Schraalenburgh, Bergen Co, New Jersey, USA. He died about 1814. He was buried in Hillier L75 C5, Prince Edward Co, Ontario, Canada.

Peter Quackenbush moved to the Napanee area of Ontario in the late 1790's, following his older brother, Reynier Quackenbush. In total, four siblings of that family moved to Ontario from Tappan, New York.

Peter was steeped in Dutch tradition. He was born in a Dutch area of New Jersey, christened in the Dutch Reformed Church, and married a woman of Dutch ancestry. They named their children according to the conservative Dutch tradition: the eldest son and second daughter were named for the father's parents, and the eldest daughter and second son were named for the mother's parents.

In 1804, Peter was granted 200 acres of land in the third concession of Fredericksburgh Township south of Napanee. By 1808, he had a square timber house, forty acres under cultivation, two horses, eight cows and three pigs. It was probably at this residence where Peter and Maria’s fifth and final child was born about 1812. Peter died shortly after her birth.

Peter married Maria Pulisfelt [image] daughter of Andries Pulisfelt and Cornelia Winter on 3 Jun 1792 in Tappan, Rockland Co, New York, USA. Maria was born on 19 Nov 1770 in , , New Jersey, USA. She was christened on 23 Dec 1770 in Ramapo, Bergen County, New Jersey, USA. She died in 1830. She was buried in Hillier L75 C5, Prince Edward Co, Ontario, Canada.
