-------------------------- The Regina Rockets have advanced to the Saskatchewan Hockey Association's midget AA tier 3 final. They defeated the Moose Jaw Bandits 6-4 in a two-game, total-goals series that concluded Tuesday night. The Rockets won Game 1 by a 4-2 count, with Brendon Sirup scoring three goals and Jordan Richards getting the other. In Game 2, Sirup and Richards had the goals in a 2-2 tie. -------------------------- Matt Fahlman scored with one second remaining to lead the Regina Rockets to a 4 -3 victory over the Saskatoon Flyers in the Midget Tier III Saskatchewan Hockey Association championship. Brendan Sirup, with two goals, and Jordan Richards also scored for the Rockets. Regina leads the two-game total goal series 4-3. Game 2 is Sunday in Saskatoon. -------------------------- The Regina Rockets blasted the Saskatoon Flyers 9-1 to claim the Saskatchewan Hockey Association midget AA Tier 3 provincial title. The Rockets' Jordan Richards scored a hat trick, while teammate Ryan McPhee netted two goals. Brendan Sirup, Travis Avery, Cody Weisgerber and Nathan Perras each scored once for Regina. The Rockets won the two-game total-goal series 13-4. -------------------------- Burant honoured with Kaufmann award Andrew Burant is the 2007-08 recipient of the Matt Kaufmann Memorial Award. The award is presented to the most sportsmanlike defenceman in Hockey Regina's midget tier 3 division. Burant plays for the midget tier 3 Rockets. The award was presented to Burant on Wednesday night at the Jack Hamilton Arena. Burant was honoured in memory of Kaufmann, who died in a car accident in April of 1999. -------------------------- The Rockets blasted the Rush 6-2 to claim the Hockey Regina midget AA tier 3 championship on Thursday. In Game 3 of the best-of-three series, Brendon Sirup scored a hat trick for the Rockets. Adam Laprairie scored two goals for the Rockets and Kyle Gimas added one more for his team. Thomas Williams and Colin Mohr scored for the Rush. The Rockets' Alex Tollefson stopped 22 shots for the win. Devon Zimie had 33 saves for the Rush. -------------------------- |
