It was Geordie's plan to have 4 horses pulling the wagon as seen in the following photo but he found that the back horses would step onto the heels of the front horses as they traveled so he abandoned that idea.
The following clip is from the Melfort Journal as Geordie prepares to leave for Saskatoon.
The following is an article that appeared in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix indicating that Geordie had phoned the newspaper at traveling for one day. He indicated that he had made slow progress because of all the picture taking along the journey and hoped to make better mileage the next day.
I would like to thank Kirk Wallace from the Saskatoon Western Development Museum for sending me the following pictures of "Geordie" Stewart as he celebrated Pion-Era by traveling from Melfort to Saskatoon. The following is an undated newspaper article that was probably published the early part of July 1955 in the Saskatoon Paper. When Geordie arrived in Saskatoon he complained to the mayor because there were no water troughs to water the horses.
