TRAILER

Skean-dhu on lift

The trailer was not originally setup for launch and retrieve since crane lift facilities were available at the other places where the boat was located. At the Regina Beach Yacht Club (RBYC), there are no lift facilities, so the trailer was modified to accommodate launch and recovery via a boat ramp. Uprights were welded for the keel gate and these were lined fore and aft with three runs of wood 1x4s which are kind on the keel. A strong upright complete with winch was added and some strengthening was done across the front of the trailer. Appropriately tall corner flags were added to act as guides.

The boat launch as-built details of the boat launch indicate that the slope of the Regina Beach ramp is a fairly constant 15.0% below the lake water level 24june86. The slope of the ramp above water level is 15.4% for about 18 feet and reduces to around 10% over the next 130 feet. The plan details also indicate that the concrete slabs end around the 36 foot mark. After that the ramp is "filled with rocks varying from 300 to 1200mm in size - top 150mm layer finished w/ 100mm cobbles and gravel fill beneath conc. slabs." The ramp is 40 feet wide. The ramp slopes off to either side at a slope of 2:1.
