WIRING Avocet is equipped with dual batteries. Both batteries are beneath the ladder - down low and in the center where they belong. The batteries are used alternately each sailing. The solar panel is a Uni-Solar Module US-11 (10.3 Watts). The solar panel comes with an aluminum frame. A piece of white insulation foam was placed under the panel to provide support in the event that the panel is stepped on. The solar panel and frame were attached to a wooden framework and then to the hatch. The solar panel is wired so it is on all the time, generating about 1 amp to trickle charge to the batteries.
