During the early 16 hundreds to the mid seventeen hundreds there  were a number of McWillie families who it is thought were all related and were tenant farmers farming within five miles of Inveravon church in an area referred to as "The Corries".

An early inscription on a grave marker in Inveravon cemetery but no longer legible read as follows "Heir lyes ane honest man called William McWillie who lived in the Corries, who departed the 10th of June 1685 and Ketren Gordone, his spouse.  Decendants of that above named William McWillie & Ketren Gordone can now be traced throughout the world.

Robert McWillie.
