The Big Muddy Country is full of history and one of the most interesting of these is the oulaws and bootleggers who occupied the plains for some time.
Only in television shows and movies do we ever hear of outlaws and the Wild West. However once theses men rode on their horses in the Big Muddy.
The Outlaws sought refuge in the hills of the Big Muddy. One of the most famous outlaws of this time was Butch Cassidy. He set up a trail from Canada to Mexico with hideouts in distant places. One of the Hideout Stations is located in the Big Muddy Badlands.
