South Zone Indoor Soccer Coach’s Information Sheet

Play of the South Zone Indoor Soccer is governed by the Community Soccer Rules and can be found at http://www.reginaindoorsoccer.ca.

Below is an abbreviated form of the Community Soccer Rules and other key information. Note: South Zone reserves the right to modify rules to suit location conditions.

Playing Area

Walls immediately surrounding the playing area shall be regarded as part of the playing area. Walls are live and the ball may be bounced off the walls during play. Ceilings will normally be considered as dead (out-of-bounds). Where obstacles exist in the facility (i.e., basketball backboards, court separating curtains, spectator’s chairs or benches, etc.,) the referee will decide if play will continue when the ball strikes the obstacle. Generally, play will continue unless unfair advantage is given to either team. If the referee rules the ball has gone out of play or is dead as a result of a player kicking or throwing the ball, then the opposing team will have an indirect kick from the closest point of contact with these areas. In the case of the ball getting stuck in the spectator’s chairs or benches, then a drop ball will be used to restart play.

Crease

No player other than the goal-keeper may enter the goal area.
The goal-keeper may handle the ball in the goal area only, and not in the penalty area.

Facilities

Games for U4 to U12 are played in the South Zone on Saturday. Some games may be played on Sunday afternoon. One game each weekend.

U14 to U18 teams play an interlocking schedule with teams from another zone depending on the number of participants.

Teams playing the first game of the day will assist in setting up the facility. Teams playing the last game of the day are to assist with cleaning the facility and putting all chairs and equipment away. We must leave the facility in the same condition we found it.

Coach

Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players and supporters. No parents (only coaches) are allowed on the team benches. Coaches are to check player’s shoes to make sure they have non-marking soles. All players are to receive equal playing time.

Number of Players

U4 & U6 play 4 x 4—Three players and one goalie.
All other divisions play 5 x 5—Four players and one goalie.

Unlimited substitution shall be allowed at any time during the game, as long as the players do not interfere with the play or enable their team to gain a direct advantage.
