| What Type of Investor Are You?
If you want to get anywhere, you need to first know where you're starting from. This is especially true when planning your investments. There is no point in researching the many different investment options out there until you first know what type of investments will best help you reach your financial goals. Knowing your investment type involves a thorough examination of all aspects of your finances, both in their present form, and future expectations.
First of all, you need to look at your financial situation. What sort of income are you bringing in, both now and what do you expect in the future. Does this income come from multiple unpredictable sources, or a single stable source? Do you have debts that need paying or are you supporting one or more dependants?
Next, you need to examine your investment objectives. Are you saving for a particular item or event? Are you saving for the long, medium or short-term? Will you need to tap into your investments in the near future, or can you leave them alone to grow over time.
Finally, it's important that you look at your own feelings towards investing. Are you comfortable riding out the ups and downs of the market, or does the thought of even a small loss keep you up at night?
A thorough examination of all these factors and more is critical to selecting the right mix of investments for your specific situation. Once you have determined your investor profile, only then does it make sense to start choosing specific investments.
Visit the E-fficient Investor section of our website to complete an online investor profile questionnaire to see what type of investments would suit your situation. It's free, and as they say in the commercials, no salesperson will call. Of course if you would like to further examine your investment plan, please give us a call or send us an e-mail. We would be happy to discuss it with you.
