Copyright is an important issue to discuss with your students when using the Internet. There are many rules of engagement when using Internet based material. It is important to give credit to the sources that you used and check sites throroughly for credibility. We have all the sites that we used for our quest listed in our Medieval Links list and have also created a Graphic Credit page off of our main page. We attempted to e-mail one site about a graphic we used in our quest (see email message below). The e-mail link was not working. This left us in a bit of a dilemma as we anted to use this graphic. In our research (see links below) we saw many times that if you are using information/graphics for educational sites you are not infringing on copyright if you give the source credit. It was important to learn about copyright and pass this knowledge on to our students.

Hello. My name is Jason Fuller and I am a graduate distance education student presently completing a web-based learning course. I am a high school teacher in Canada. One of my major assignments for this course is to construct a WebQuest with a team of two other educators who are also in my present course of study. The quest must incorporate at least 3 multiple intelligence into an authentic learning experience for our grade 9 students. The WebQuest is titled: Medieval Mystery - I Spy!Both myself and my two other group members were absolutely blown away at the creativeness of the background images shown on your site mentioned above. It would be absolutely fitting to our webquest. We are asking permission to use your background images found at http://www.medieval-life.net/village_life.htm for only our intro page to the WebQuest. Your images would not appear anywhere else throughout our quest and we would most certainly place credit for your fine work on the intro page in addition to our copyright and reference sections.Thanking you in advance for your time and considerations,From: "Mail Administrator" <Postmaster@bellnexxia.net>JFuller
