OBJECTIVE:
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada ( LINC ) is an immigrant language training program funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. LINC provides basic English language training for adult immigrants and refugees in order to facilitate their social, cultural, economic and political integration into Canada so that they may become participating members of Canadian society as quickly as possible.
ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for a LINC English class, a person must be:
- An adult immigrant ( older than legal school leaving age ).
- Either a permanent resident or a newcomer who has been allowed to remain in Canada, to whom Citizenship and Immigration Canada intends to grant permanent resident status.
- Who has not acquired Canadian citizenship yet.
- Level of English is between Level 1 and Level 3 (according to Canadian Language Benchmarks Literacy Assessment ).
HOW TO APPLY FOR A LINC ENGLISH CLASS IN REGINA:
- Contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) at 1871 Hamilton Street, Regina, Sask., to get the questionnaire and to make the appointment for the test called "The Canadian Language Benchmarks Literacy Assessment (CLBLA)".
- On the day of your appointment at CIC Regina, bring the following:
- Your Immigration documents.
- The completed questionnaire.
- An interpreter, if possible.

Provides LINC English classes for immigrants who have a minimum of one year university or post-secondary education and do not need child care.
For those who are eligible for LINC English class at the University of Regina but cannot attend LINC English day classes because of employment; the University of Regina also offers LINC English classes in the evening on its main campus of the University.
