4th Sunsebb
The party attempts to pass by the wall of fire and enter the (apparent) last remaining room. El'Fross blasts the wall with his wonderful staff of frost and the elves (and dragon) (and wolverine) quickly run through to the room on the other side. There they find a lever and a large basket. Immediately coming to the conclusion that the lever would raise the basket, they all climb in and tell the dragon to flip the lever so they can go up to wahtever awaits them. The little dragon touched the lever and is immediately electrocuted by the trap on the lever. Ouch. The little guy survives and starts to come back to the party, whimpering about his burned claws, when everyone notices it is becoming smoky in the area aroudn the basket. Some supernatural critter of smoke is attacking them! Coderick is the first to succumb to the smoke creaturee's attacks, and his lungs burn with pain! Bravely he does not cough.
After some graceful combat strategies (see El'Fross' diary below) the smoke creature is defeated and A'Ha is dead again, as is the little white dragon. Good thing the party met Thoravald at the beginning of their latest adventure, as the druid must now up his score of reincarnations for the month to four.
5th Sunsebb
Thorivald reincarnates A'Ha as a leopard. L'Wehn seems oddly delighted with her brother's new form. The rest of the day is spent with curing, resting and healing.
4th Sunsebb
Little Siroth is no longer little. The druid reincarnates the dragon as a Grizzy Bear. The huge monster hardly fits in the room they spent the night in. The party now plans their next move.
From the diary of El'Fross:
Some days our group of merry elves act together like a well oiled machine. Today was not one of them.
After several days of enjoyable rest and relaxation, sipping wine, and becoming more aquainted with L’wen’s new form, my mind wandered back to the machinations of my plodding companions. Apparently they had found a secret door.
We passed through the wall of flame without incident. Which was probably the only thing that was done right that day. After piling into the basket, we asked the dragon to pull the up lever, preparing to explore where ever it was we were going.
In retrospect, we should have likely checked the place for traps… the dragon was electrocuted and we were attacked by a smoke creature. As we lept out of the basket, the normally agile Coderick tripped and fell back into the basket and attacked by the “smoke”. He managed to finally get out. But had the smoke all around him.
I thought this a good opportunity to try out my new wand. It turned out to be a fairly weak version, firing only one magic missile, which seemed to do the creature some harm. Unfortunately, my desire to try my new wand seemed to make the others think they could not harm the creature with their weapons and they began an all out “cantrip assault” on the smoke. I sometimes forget that the others consider me a natural leader and sometimes follow my actions. I should have ordered them to try their weapons first. Before I realized what was happening, our strongest fighter, SNF’L was firing an ale chilling cantrip at the creature while his two handed sword remained strapped to his back.
Coderick, had a good idea… he ran through the wall of fire to try to kill the creature…. Unfortunately, his good sense stopped there and he did not come back. I implored SNF’L to give me the fire ring so I could pass through the wall. SNF’L went through himself instead to rescue the little guy. Good!… He was more capable than me of defeating the creature… I only hoped he would abandon the thought of chilling the thing to death.
A while later SNF’l came back. He said Coderick was down. I asked if he was dead or injured. SNF’L shrugged. I told SNF’L to give the ring to the Druid and passed through the wall myself… which really hurt… a lot. I felt I had no other choice…. If I didn’t act, SNF’L would have “considered” Coderick to death. I downed a potion as I strode down the hall, hoping it was healing…. It wasn’t.
As I reached Coderick, the smoke tried to engulf me… but missed. I guess the potion did some good. As I worked to stabilize our friends wounds, I cursed myself for skipping the month of healing classes our teacher S’Roth had given our group. Luckily, my action had stunned the others into doing something, and the druid reached our companion in time. As the Druid and I battled the smoke creature, A’ha and L’Wen made the unfortunate decision to pass the wall of flames…. A’ha died… as did little Siroth trying to follow.
S’Part, curiously enough, had spent most of his day with his nose as close to L’Wen as she would allow but decided to not to follow her through the flames. I suppose being covered in fur does that to a person, though I can’t imagine him being much more susceptible to flames than our pasty white selves… Still everyone else had passed through… at personal risk for the good of the group. It became clear to me today that S’Part is not one of whom the prophecy spoke… and that it is X’Ylo who belongs here with us - though he can be equally as weasly… but I digress… as usual.
Poor A’ha… yet again…dead. The next day, the druid brought him back as a leopard, the day after the dragon was a grizzly bear. A’ha wasn’t so much happy, however he seems resigned to dying from time to time now. He briefly tried blaming SNF’L… though this one was definitely a stretch.
Let’s recap shall we. Our once ALL K’NEEDIAN ALLSTAR line-up has now been transformed to a travelling animal side show. SNF’L and I remain K’needian in appearance, however we are now travelling with a Human, a leopard, a grizzly bear, and a wolverine.
Interestingly, my good friend Siroth the little dragon is now a very large mean looking bear. I wouldn’t feel too bad about asking him to carry a few things for me…. and I wonder if SNF’L could build a saddle… hmmmmm……
