Photos from the Round Lake Weekend 2004
Ok, So the trip was Great...but I guess that we should have done something more memorable...since by way of records of attendance from Steve the Van Marion/Minifie combo was not actually there [Note from Steve: Oops, sorry]. I guess it's Sambuca/Acquaviet(I have no idea how to spell this poison) sandwiches for me next year so I can perform to my best drunken ability.
My best part of the trip was enjoying watching the parenting of teenagers...we have so much to learn for when Kirsten gets to be that age..oh and by the way there will be no more inviting of the Boyes children (or just the 2 boys the same age as Kirsten...please no offence Scott & Kandi, but it' more for safety sake from the very protective Dad(Leen)) when it gets to be our turn....
Even with the rain the trip was a great success, & hope to see everyone again next year.
Alison
P.S. Leen thinks that you are all the rude ones not him, he thinks that he's perfectly behaved.
2004 will stick out in my mind as the year we all began to get senile, and started calling each other by the incorrect names. To help stave this off for the future, I started coming up with nicknames for all of the residents. These nicknames have been added to the database and can be accessed here. Feel free to add new nicknames for those without them and to edit the existing ones.
This was also the year of Hammy "Slapshot" Campling, the famous bra-snapping, national anthem-singng, camp hamster. He sure roused us in the early mornings, eh, John?
Attendees were (in no particular order): Eckstein - Russ and Ryan; Boyes - Scott, Kandi, Duncan, Tasha, Eric, Conner; Wilde - Shelley, Steve, Melany, Amber; Matt Robertson; Kathy Lewis; Kennedy - John, Trudy, Kieran; Fred Mountjoy; Debbie Disney; Christensen - Holly, Murray; Dawn Bear; Hammy Campling; O'Brien - Jeff, Kathy; Krista Berg; Scott Miller; Van Marion - Leen, Kirsten; Alison Minifie.
Here is a snippet of the witty conversation from the weekend:
Another notable event is when John, who was at an Elk's convention, tucked his keys safely inside his briefcase and mailed it from the convention to his house. Upon arriving at home, he realized the keys to his van were part of the keys in the briefcase, which was not due to arrive for some time. Consulting the great Deity known as Fred, John was about to rent a vehicle for the weekend, but Fred in his infinite wisdom (and shady past) told John he could just order keys from the dealership.

Thing you noticed that was different about the O'Briens: Jeff seems to be more open about wearing his skirt in public, and showed particular bravery for using Kathy's bra as a slingshot.
Thing you noticed that was the same about the O'Briens: They still seem to have that honeymoon thang happening
Thing you noticed that was different about the Boyes': Scott had a bigger and better axe, perhaps getting ready to chase away all the young men that are going to come calling in the next few years.
Thing you noticed that was the same about the Boyes': It still amazes me how they fit all their camping gear, kids, and food in that little space.
Thing you noticed that was different about Debbie: Debbie got drunk after four drinks.
Thing you noticed that was the same about Debbie: That getting drunk on four drinks didn't stop her from having many more drinks
Thing you noticed that was different about the Van Marions: Not much different there, Leen's still rude, Allison still puts up with him and Kirsten is still a wonderful child.
As for Russ and Ryan, Russ let Ryan get further from his sight than ever before
