I
will not decline to voice my feelings on the grounds that someone may feel
I do not have enough facts on which to base my decision. The pursuit
of facts can be unending and facts are ever changing at any rate. To0 often
those who would condemn an opinion as having no basis in fact, want only
their own facts to be considered.
The
question that is almost impossible to answer is: At what point does one
have enough facts to make a decision? I understand that many will rank
facts according to the Academic
or Social standing
of an opinion giver and I do not wish to fall into that trap.
When
a person has accepted a set of Principles into their life, Decisions on
a variety of subjects no longer become the dilemmas that some would have
us believe in trying to advance their own feelings by Argument
or Rhetoric.
It
may come to pass that I am given the honor
of your confidence to conduct various affairs on your behalf. Should I
seek this position, it is my duty to freely answer whatever questions you
may ask to determine what my philosophy or principles are based upon. It
is also incumbent on both of us to understand that at times I may be called
upon to represent a body larger than just the two of us.
Should
that happen I would advise that body and yourself, that your and their
views must be made known to me honestly and clearly. I pray that the advice
that I have used was given in respect of and for the benefit of all beings.
I also pledge
that I will not use the position given to me to influence the body by means
unavailable to them. It is my promise to keep the body informed as much
as possible in a non-prejudial fashion.
It is only by communicating your feelings or thoughts that Grassroots Democracy can be achieved. By expressing them you may find many others share the same sentiments. Often, just expressing them is enough to become a factor in influencing a political or social outcome.
