![]() ![]() We love writing and performing songs together as a family. It's something we've been doing since our kids were little. As a family, we have been playing music in church, with everyone having a role. Singing, piano, drums, bass, guitar, you name it. This year, we decided to write a Christmas song together. It was a fun and creative way to celebrate the season and express the joy of this time of year. We had a blast making music as a family. It builds our relationships and our memories. We hope you enjoy our song as much as we enjoyed making it. My daughter Kassia came up with the band name ... "Purely Eccentric Violet" ... of all the crazy names thought of ... we liked this one. At the end of the song I told the girls to just go for it and throw in things like "baby". Kassia had us all laughing with some of the stuff she did, a little of which you can hear as the song fades out. My wife and all our 3 boys are musical too ... we had Zachary put some harmonies in on the song. Lena, I had draw and design the cover. She is quite the artist and spends hours drawing things on her phone. It is way better than anything I could do. Music is something I enjoy and I've been creating compositions on the piano since I was a kid. Over time, I have learned to play different instruments and built my own little studio at home. I'm still improving my skills in playing, composing, recording, mixing and mastering but I love it as a hobby. For those of you interested in the recording side of things ... my "go to" music software is Cubase as my DAW. I use a lot of Waves Plugins, EZ Mix, Baby Audio Transit, and Izotope plugins .... and I am amazed at how good I can get the sound. (I mean compared to when I first began.) When I first started composing with my 386 computer, a Sound Blaster soundcard and a couple synthesizers, I had to use cheap mics and a a RadioShack mixer to record into my cassette player. My friends and I would spend hours recording and we had a blast. I still love listening here and then to what we made back then .... but there was no way a home studio could easily get a professional sound on the budget I had. Now I am using Native Instruments pianos, EastWest strings and choirs, Spitfire orchestral instruments, Addictive Drums, and Addictive Keys. The sounds are amazing. I'm not a pro at this but it is so fun learning. I'm sure those who do this a lot could do much better. But it is a hobby. YouTube is a great place to start learning. I really enjoy watching tutorials from Dom Sigalas, Chris Selim, Jeff Gibbons, Anne-Kathrin Dern, Pensado's place, Alex Moukala, Liam Bradbury, and the Recording Revolution. These people are awesome in their craft and very helpful. So a big thanks to you people who help us learn. | Purely Eccentric VioletThis ChristmasSingers: Lena, Kassia, and Zachary Tymchak Music and Lyrics: Mark Tymchak This Christmas (I Want to Tell you This Christmas)Music and Lyrics by Mark TymchakI've been thinking Spending all my time Clocks been ticking Playing with my mind Phones been ringing Told you I'd be fine Spending Christmas apart I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the truth I want to sing about Snowmen, sledding Turkey and apple pie Running around with a smile I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the Truth I want to sing about Snowflakes, fireplace Cookies on Santa's plate Sharing my heart with a Song I want to spend it with you I've been feeling Knowing that your gone Snow's been bringing Days been going long Strangers singing Singing Christmas songs I know something is wrong I want to tell you that I've been walking Frozen to my core Shoppers shopping Buying out the store Carolers knocking Knocking on my door I just wish it was you I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the truth I want to sing about Snowmen, sledding Turkey and apple pie Running around with a smile I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the Truth I want to sing about Snowflakes, fireplace Cookies on Santa's plate Sharing my heart with a Song I want to spend it with you Everybody sits back dreaming Thinking 'bout the joy and singing All the gifts that they'll be bringing I'm just dreaming of you I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the truth I want to sing about Snowmen, sledding Turkey and apple pie Running around with a smile I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the Truth I want to sing about Snowflakes, fireplace Cookies on Santa's plate Sharing my heart with a Song I want to spend it with you I want to tell you the truth I want to sing about Snowmen, sledding Turkey and apple pie Running around with a smile I want to tell you this Christmas I want to tell you the Truth I want to sing about Snowflakes, fireplace Cookies on Santa's plate Sharing my heart with a Song I want to spend it with you I want to spend it with you I want to spend it with you I want to spend it with you I want to spend it with you Want to spend it with you Want to spend it with you I want to spend it with you Copyright 2022 (BMI) |
