250 - Nutcracker

November 2011 - I've been wanting to make a nutcracker for a few years now but never got around to it. The only thing carved on this little guy is his nose and the dowels at the top of his legs but I prefer to show him with my carvings. I turned him on my lathe out of poplar wood given to me by a friend in Gravelbourg and he stands 13.5 inches tall. He is painted with acrylics and sealed with some water based satin varnish.
