November 2011 - I've been wanting to make a nutcracker for a few years now but never got around to it. The only thing carved on this little guy is his nose and the dowels at the top of his legs but I prefer to show him with my carvings. I turned him on my lathe out of poplar wood given to me by a friend in Gravelbourg and he stands 13.5 inches tall. He is painted with acrylics and sealed with some water based satin varnish. December 2011 - I've been wanting to make a nutcracker for a few years now but never got around to it. This is now the second one I turned and while the picture doesn't show it, this one is 20 inches tall and made from pieces of wood I had lying around in the garage. He is painted with acrylics and sealed with some water based satin varnish. While he is bigger than the first one, I chose exactly the same colour scheme as the first one.

December 2011 - After I made the first 20 inch nutcracker we decided it would be nice to have two identical ones so they could be put at the entrance of our house. one on each side. I've already got two pictures that look identical so this time I put all three nutcrackers in this picture. January 2012 - This Xmas Elf is about 6 inches tall, carved from basswood and painted with acrylic paints, then sealed with floor paste wax. February 2012 - This is the 6th little honey bear that I carve. He is carved from a scrap piece of basswood, painted with acrylic paint and finished with floor wax. The log is about 5 inches long and the whole project is only about 3 inches high. March 2012 - This stylized grizzly is made from a scrap piece of hardwood I had kicking around. Not sure what kind of wood but it is very hard and looks very good. He is about 3 inches long and 2 inches high. March 2012 - This little boot was an evening project at our Regina Whittlers Carving Club. It is carved out of basswood, measures about 4 inches long by 3 inches tall and is finished with brown shoe polish.
