The USAAF C-47s were shot down over the northern part of Yugoslavia, which is part of Slovenia
now. During the summer of 1946 there was a tense situation on the Italian/Yugoslav border regarding
Trieste.
The RAF C-47 was forced to land in the south of Yugoslavia, after it flew over the Nis area in southern Serbia. On several occassions the Yugoslav Air Force tried to intercept unknown aircraft over Yugoslav airspace with Il-2s from the 421. puk. but with no results. |
