Ho-Chi-Minh and his Communist Party take over Ha-Noi and North Viet-Nam,establish Democratic Republic of Viet-Nam (DRVN),supported in economy and military by Soviet-Union,Communist China and Eastern Europe Countries.
26 October 1955:
In the South,Ngo-Dinh-Diem proclaims the Republic of Viet-Nam (RVN),supported in economy and military mainly by the U.S.
Ngo-Dinh-Diem becomes the first President of the RVN.
20 July 1956:
Deadline set at Geneva Agreements in 1954 for nationwide elections to reunite North and South Viet-Nam passes.
North and South Viet-Nam conflict begins.
1959-1960:
Vietnamese Communist troops from the North start to infiltrate to South Viet-Nam.
20 December 1960:
North Viet-Nam announces the formation of the National Front for the Liberation of the South,commonly known as the National Liberation Front (NLF)
