The first President of the RVN Ngo-Dinh-
Diem and his brother Ngo-Dinh-Nhu are murdered.
1963-1968:
The U.S.becomes deeply involved in Viet-Nam.
3 September 1967:
Nguyen-Van-Thieu becomes the second President
of the RVN.
30 January 1968:
Tet Mau-Than offensive.North Vietnamese troops
violate the Tet truce,attack big cities in South Viet-Nam,kill a lot of civilians,
especially in Hue.
3 May 1968:
Paris Peace Talk begins.
1969-1973:
The U.S.gradually withdraws their troops from South
Viet-Nam, known as "Vietnamization Program".
10 June 1969:
In Paris, the National Liberation Front announces
the establishment of a Provisionaly Revolutionary Government (PRG).
3 September 1969:
Ho-Chi-Minh,the President of the DRVN dies in Ha-Noi
at the age of 79.
27 January 1973:
Paris Agreement:"An Agreement Ending the War and
Restoring Peace in Viet-Nam" is signed in Paris by the U.S.,South Viet-Nam, North Viet-Nam and NLF.
29 March 1973:
The last U.S. troops leave South Viet-Nam.
4 April 1974:
The U.S. rejects the request to increase military aid to South Viet-Nam
5 August 1974:
The U.S. decreases military aid to South Viet-Nam in 1975 to $300 million.
9 August 1974:
President Richard Nixon resigns as President of the United States.
