The Grandmote Festival
Jarel wins for best role-player of the week. The voting was all over the place with a tie right up until 10 minutes before the deadline. Prize is 50xp(level).
*1/2 of the lowest character's xp goes to the new characters.
Explanation of axp: "axp" refers to army experience points. Essentially, as an army recruit, your character is working toward a level in fighter. At any time as we continue with Basic Training, you may turn in your "axp" at a 1:1 ratio toward a level in fighter (you must be able to make the fighter level with your xp and axp together) or you can wait for until later and exchange your axp for 1/2 its value in xp for any other class.
If you somehow obtain more than 1,000axp and use it to level up as a fighter, you lose all excess axp.
If you are still first level after Basic Training and later on gain enough xp to gain second level, you can still use your axp as explained above.
Lots of people from the village are met.
Infected pony dicovered by Jarel.
Brent debates evil with the twins.
Preece takes stance - "Keep away from this horse".
Captain Cohen, “I have no problem with that member of the Arcanists Guild casting a detect magic on the animal.
Snape is having a cinnamon bun.
Has the animal attacked anybody yet?
Jarel is still patrolling. The twins spot him and try to wave him down. He seems too busy so they go and talk to Preece instead. They tell him about the mysterious skulking figure at the edge of the fairground.
Meanwhile back outside the town gate, Snape casts his detect magic on the pony. He checks Guard lieutenant Cohen and Hawkwing for magic as well. He notes that Cohen has a magic shield. Hawkwing as a magic staff, and something in his pouch and also some thing around his neck
Tyssa’s iced cream has fallen out of her “wizard had wafer” and she’s quite upset.
Jarel approaches the boy who spilled Tyssa’s iced cream. Reldar goes to get another iced cream for Tyssa. Tyssa asks Jarel, “Aren’t ya gonna cut him with your sward? He’s a bad guy!”
Hawkwing and the Guard Lieutenant help the infected pony. Hawkwing is unable to cure it. Cohen has the pny placed in the stables away from the other horses.
Quenton Sobir, “Can you believe the rabble and the riffraff in this dirty little town and they choose this place to store the body of a beloved St. Jostema! It’s a disgrace!”
Marches in Battle
Only six votes? How can you win if you do not vote? This week's winner is Brent, some say for his action in saving Kang from the other March, others say because Fred is so clearly playing a character that differs from those he has played in the past.

There were several "events" for the evening. Each one was worth 198xp. Each character was involved in exactly 3 events, but some events had more characters involved than others. I also cannot list the events, because some of them should not be shared with the general public. Hence the difference in individual xp. We are still awaiting votes for the best role-player. Note that some people may take a 2nd level as a fighter if they so wish, thanks to their combat training.

5th of Goodmonth (Continued...)
"Well, you maggots won," praises Sergeant Steele. "As a reward, you have the rest of the evening off." He turns to the Second March of St. Jostema and shouts, "As for you LOSERS, drop and give me twenty! You'll be doing calisthenics for the rest of the day!"
Jarel enquires about helping the injured members of the other team.
"They'll deal with their own injuries," instructs Sergeant Steele. "You had to deal with your own as well."
Sabrian pipes up, "So, if we have the rest of the day off..." She hesitates, looking around. "...Can we leave? I mean 'may' we leave? Sir?"
Sergeant Steele opens his mouth to respond when Sabrina continues, "Are we getting paid, yet, by the way?"
"Not yet - It is not Freeday yet," responds Sergeant Steele. He narrows his eyes suspiciously at Sabrina. "Now, what do you mean by 'leave' exactly?"
"Oh, go to town, have a nice drink..." Sabrina answers.
At the same time Pandora says, "I want to visit some of those nice shops I saw the other day..."
"...Get some half-decent food for a change..."
"They were all closed..."
Sergeant Steele becomes confused, "You just had two days off."
Meanwhile, Leon quietly tends to those who are still wounded. Brent has a large scrape on his shoulder and some brusiing on his back from when he broke Kang's fall.
"So, we have the rest of the day off, but we can't leave?" asks Sabrina, somewhat sarcastically.
"You are stuck in the barracks," replies Sergeant Steele.
Jarel asks, "Is anyone interested in learning how to ride still?"
"Mmmm!" exclaims Pandora at this idea.
"Oh yeah, we'll ride," says Sabrina. "We'll do some riding."
"I'd sure like to get Fleet out of the stables," says Jarel.
"We could do some crossbow practicing," continues Sabrina.
"Let's put it this way, maggots," says Sergeant Steele. "I don't want to see you hanging around the taverns."
"Yes, sir!" acknowledges Sabrina.
"If you want to do some practicing on your own, feel free."
"Yes, sir!" re-empathizes Sabrina. Louder this time.
"I have to go and check on the other March," finishes Sergeant Steele, moving away and shaking his head.
As the Sereant moves off, Leon says, "Well, we ain't supposed to be seen near the taverns, but that don't mean we can't have a pitcher in the yard..."
"We are the dudes of winnnningg!" interrupts Lance. "We won it!"
"Yes," says Jarel. "Perhaps you'd like to go for a ride?" His odd emphasis on the "ride" stops everyone cold.
"Why would I want to go for a ride, dude?" asks a bewildered Lance.
"Because there is a diseased pony in the stables..." says Jarel, arching his eyebrows.
After a bit, Lance says, "Oh, yeah, the sick pony. Weren't they supposed to, like, take care of that today?"
"Why don't you go and get Fleet," says Sabrina, "and we'll do some riding lessons. If he'll let us ride him."
Leon says, "Ya'll know, today was the first time I came close to usin' this here pig sticker. I haven't been able to use this thang yet."
"I'll get my horse, Link," says Lance. "Where are we going to, like, ride?"
"Well, there has to be some place to ride around here somewhere," says Sabrina.
"We could, like, ride to that, like, farm," says Lance.
"Oh!" gasps Pandora.
"So, we are all right to leave the base just as long as we avoid the taverns?" asks Jarel.
"Sounded like he just didn't want us to, like, get drunk," responds Lance. "Actually it sounded like he just didn't want them," here he throws a thumb toward the twins, "to get drunk."

DEAD
6th of Goodmonth (Continued...)
Groups seperate and go north to check for worms.
Group with Jarel, Sabrina, Leon, Brent, Snape, Jornell, Torg, Foltum the Guard and 5 other guards find "the" Raven and a 6' long Weasel. Fight and win, fight some worms.
Find a cave with a bvery large bear.
Argument between Jarel and Jornell.
Jornell all about leaving and not fighting this bear.
Jarel all about fighting the evil and not letting it out to roam.
Weasel tells them to leave the area.
They kill the weasel.
Brent is watching the cave.
Suddenly the bear comes out and it is a monster. Bolts are fired at it from most present, but the beast barely seems to notice.
It takes a swipe at Brent as he goes to load his crossbow and Brent is tossed aside like so much garbage.
Bear turns to Torg and rends him and bites his head off. Torg is dead.
Bear lumbers back to the cave while throwing off a few more crossbow bolts.
Bear tells group in a deep voice to depart the area immediately.
They do.
Group rounds up the other groups.
One missing - the one with Sergeant Steel.
Jornell and Leon find the site of the battle where the group must have come to mischief. A shortsword, plenty of blood and a quiver of bolts next to a river. No sign of bodies.
Captain Cohen reveals his plans for the "Prelatal Irregulars". Jarel dismayed at the implied desception.
Jarel submits resignation. Captain Cohen attempts to convince him to stay on, offering a position with the other group under the leadership of "Ray". Ray is cited as being much "less fanatical" than Jarel. Jornell considers this.
Captain Cohen promises to send a missive to Ogburg asking for help with the threat to St. Jostema. He guarantees Jarel that no response will be forthcoming because St. Jostema is not worth anything to the Prelatal Army at large. Jarel is surprised at this and can't believe the army would just let this happen.

End of the day - some other discussions.
8th of Goodmonth
Graduation Ceremony
Jarel is told to choose a second in command and he chooses Leon.
Blind Bela has a message for each of the graduates.
"Congratulations Maggots!"
The party is taken aback to see Sergeant Steel and his group of guardsmen appear, and Jarel shouts out, 'They are evil!"
Sergeant Steel returns at the end of the Graduation Ceremony.
He turns out to be evil, as well as the 17 other "surviving" guards.
Huge battle involving not just the Prelatal Irregulars, but Father Mulcahie, Brother Drake and Guard Lietenant Cohen.
One guard escapes during the confusion.
Sergeant Steel is killed.
7 guards are "saved" and taken into custody.
