Paint Shop Pro - This was formerly known as Jasc Paint Shop Pro, but is now from Corel. The trial version is good for 30 days. The price is extremely reasonable when you consider that it can perform as well as Adobe Photoshop for one tenth the cost. Easy to use and very versatile.

Irfanview - This is probably the best free photo viewer and basic photo editor ever made. The uses of this program are by far too numerous to mention. It works well for copying photos as you browse for pasting into your main photo editing software for processing.

XnView - XnView is a free image browser, viewer converter. It can read more than 400 file formats, e.g. gif, bmp, jpeg, png, targa, multipage tiff, camera RAW, jpeg 2000, mpeg, Avi, Quicktime. EXIF & IPTC metadata are also supported. This is the perfect program for scanning through image collections and organizing them.
