Nokia Brier Pool - 2004
March 14th, 10pm. Once
again it's all over. Wow. The Fur-ball gave that one
away. So, Gaylene
overtakes Derek for 1st place and will take home a cool $198!
Mr. Owens will get $99 for
2nd and Malcolm picks up 3rd place (and $33) due to
Dacey's round robin win
over Ferbey. Russell takes home the Burrows Brothers
award for a solid last place
showing ... a solid 43 points back. Well done, maybe
now I won't have to listen
to Russell complain that he has never officially won anything
in the pool.
Thanks everyone... hope
you had fun. If you haven't already done so, please get
your entry fee to me ASAP.
In fact, I managed to collect 2005 entry fee in the patch
on thursday night.
Thanks Wally.
Later,

March 14th, 4pm, round robin
complete and the final is set. Mr. Owens currently
sits on top of the standings
but could be leapfrogged by Gaylene if Dacey wins the
final. Malcolm and
Gaylene each picked NS first overall and will gain 3 points on
everyone if NS wins the
final. If AB wins, Gaylene will fall from here 2nd place tie
and Gerry will squeak into
3rd, I think. I'm pretty sure that in the patch Derek said
he will donate his winnings
to the rye fund. I'm a little foggy on the details. To all
of you who paid your entry
fee to me in the patch, I will be charging you double next
year because I still ended
up with no money in my pocket the next day and one
extra fat head due to the
uncalculated extra intake of rye.
March 11th, 1pm ... Draw
15 complete... Gaylene is still in the lead.
The playoff points could
factor into the final standings since Gaylene
picked NS first overall.
Most others picked AB so it may depend on
who does better in the playoffs.
This will be the last update
before it's all over as I am heading up to
Saskatoon right after work
today with a few co-poolers. I'll probably
see a few of you up there
also.
See ya later and look for
the next update sometime monday. Maybe
John or someone will announce
the (unofficial) winner sooner.
March 11th... Standings after
last nights action:
(ps. my cable modem
wasn't working last night so I couldn't
update from home)
March 10th, 5:30pm, draw
13 complete... Gaylene has taken
sole possesion of 1st place.
Things are starting to spread out
a little but NS, NL, and
MB each have an extra game right now.
After reading the message
boards I would assume that Big Daddy
Ackerman is snapping now
since Nova Scotia just defeated
Alberta. I've said
it before, and I'll say it again: "F#@% Dacey!"
When I take him high, he
loses. When I take him relatively low,
he wins. Still early.
March 9th, 10:30pm, Draw
11 complete. One word: Logjam!
It's tight at the top.
Lots of people still in contention. In fact I'd
say that everyone down to
... oh ... 17th spot still has a shot at
winning. If you're
18th or lower I don't think you have a shot.
Sorry Colleen, Daryl, Pugs,
Troy, etc...
Did anyone see the NL/PEI game tonight? 14 to 10! Clowns.
Thanks Johhny for keeping people up to date on the messageboard.
March 9th, 5:45pm ... well,
well, well ... good thing he's at the Brier because DBoe
would be flooding the messageboard
with a bunch of bs now that he's in the lead.
It's a tight race and still
anyone's ballgame, except for Russ... he's out.
Also, I received a few entries
on Friday, March the 5th, AFTER the deadline I had
clearly set in advance.
I apologize to these people but precedence has been set
and I cannot allow entries
received after the deadline and I have posted the picks
of the other people.
I may add your names as a "fun" entry to the list but you will
not be elgible for prize
money.
March 4th, 5:00pm ... no
more bets! I will be away until Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 9th)... so
there will be no updates
on this site until then. If some kind soul would care to use the
spreadsheet and post the
standings on the messageboard, I'm sure that would be
appreciated.
We have 31 entries ... another
nice size field. So the payout will
be as follows:
- If there is a sole last
place finisher - 1st = $198, 2nd = $99, 3rd = $33,
BB award = $10.
- If there is a tie at last
place and no BB award - 1st = $204, 2nd = $102,
3rd = $34.
Here
is the Excel97 spreadsheet that I use to keep track. As usual, only
change
the wins and losses on the
1st sheet ... all others are updated automatically.
Please let me know if you
find any mistakes.
Good luck to everyone,
chube
